Multiple Affected as In-Flight Disturbance Strikes Delta Flight Landing at Sydney, Australia
Multiple passengers and crew have been injured after a Delta aircraft originating in LA to Sydney experienced turbulence on Friday morning.
Delta Flight 41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it landed at the Sydney airport, an airline spokesperson informed. Several cabin crew members required medical attention.
The New South Wales Ambulance Service said they assessed five individuals, and transferred three of them to a medical facility with minor injuries that such as spinal discomfort and headaches. The injured ranged from their 30s to 70s.
The event represents the most recent case of commercial jets experiencing atmospheric disturbance, with aviation specialists pointing out that climate change is a key driver.
On board were nearly 250 travelers and 15 crew members on the aircraft, the official added, clarifying that the plane touched down "safely" at Sydney Airport at 06:48 local time on the day in question.
