Large-scale Moscow's Assaults Cut Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have come under escalating strikes in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Russian aerial assaults have caused power cuts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while inhabitants in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and dealt with interruptions to water supplies, per reports from city officials.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was killed in a distinct aerial attack in the southeastern region in the southern area, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has escalated strikes on power infrastructure over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from partner nations to increase pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not window dressing but decisive action - from the America, the EU and the G7 - in delivering defensive weapons and implementing penalties," mentioned in a social media post.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and over thirty rockets targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were striving to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles hit electrical systems and residential structures in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the strikes on the capital have been hospitalized, per statements from city authorities.

Local officials said the metropolitan region experienced significant strikes overnight. A young boy lost their life and multiple civilians were wounded.

The strikes succeed nights of aerial attacks in the area, parts of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

All of Ukraine is on alert for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are tougher to detect.

Authorities told the media that Russia was purposely seeking to destroy the country's energy grid, with assaults already affecting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and government agencies were anticipating additional strikes.
